Reviews about Moonraker Beds

    2017-12-08, by Mike Lewis
Bought a Moonraker bed after sleeping on one of their mattresses at a Hotel, very comfortable. It must have been new, or was better made, and of stronger material than those for the domestic market. After about a year the Pocket Spring Mattress on their 'top of the range' bed failed. It was replaced at once, and at first we were delighted with their prompt action. Unfortunately, this delight was short lived, the replacement felt different to the one it replaced, and yet was supposed to be the same. The replacement failed on the one side after approximately 8 months This time the Director of the company, Mr Lewis, came out to visit and examine the mattress. This seemed the correct thing to do after one failure, so no surprise there. He stated he could see it had been turned regularly in accordance with recommendations, but could not seem to feel the problem we felt when lying on it, which was the feeling of being in danger of rolling out of bed, as the one side dropped very low, giving no support. Yet he said he could not sense this ? He then turned and rotated the mattress, putting the problem area on the other side and at the bottom. This was all he would do and left, saying it would be fine. 8 months later, the good side also collapsed, total failure, both sides, much worse than the first mattress, that just had a depression form in the one area. I had to go and sleep in a single bed in the spare room, and my Wife slept in the middle of the faulty mattress, the only comfortable area, each side of this being a big depression/hole. I should add that I am just over 12 stone, and my Wife is only 9 stone. Hardly overweight for a new 'high quality' pocket spring mattress. We had bought the bed through The Sleep Shop of Wolverhampton, and we have to state that this store was exemplary in its service and assistance, and we would highly recommend them. But after contacting Moonraker they stated they could do no more than to offer us a full refund if Moonraker didn't respond further. Absolutely superb service, but a very unfair burden on this Family run business of such long standing. We were able to buy a new bed from elsewhere. But this dose not make up for all the trouble and discomfort we suffered, and in my case I mean 'suffered' as I have 4 collapsed back disks, and require good quality support. Many a morning I could not stand up straight for a couple of hours, until I moved to the spare room. Our first pocket spring mattress lasted 20 years, our second over 12, and even then was quite serviceable, just a bit faded. Moonraker lasted approximately 1 year after the first failure. The Warranty is 5 years, but I can't see them lasting that long, and our Warranty was not honoured. We would not recommend this manufacturer. As we had a full refund from the Sleep Shop, we bought a different, well known brand of bed. The only reason we didn't buy through The Sleep Shop for this, was due to the fact we now needed a bed quickly, and could get this locally within 10 days. The Sleep Shop is highly recommended.
